Blu-ray declares itself 'winner' ?

The Blu-ray Disc Assocation (BDA) has declared itself the winner of the HD wars, for some reason. Probably something to do with selling one million PS3's, although maybe they haven't read the general online consensus of the PS3 yet. No one wants one, and everyone who already has one isn't talking about it because of sheer embarrassment for having blown $600 (or more on eBay) on a system with no good games. Maybe they should try reading some online forums as well and see how negative the Blu-ray talk is. I hope both formats fail, but realistically there is no way for anyone to declare victory at this point.

i really don't think it is sensible for someone to declare themselves winner of a HD war until their product has been around for a while so that there can be some realistic customer feedback and so that any weakness will likely have become known and apparent. blu-ray discs havn't been around for that long yet.
playstation was the first video games console that i played. i grew up with it and have been a PS fan for years. i suppose that's mostly because of the games, rather than the hardware, but i did like the physical console too and the hardware had something to do with the style of the games made. in contrast, nintendo 64 games had a very distinctly different artistic/graphical style. when the PS3 came out i was excited about it. some PS3 games are great and really take advantage of the hardware capabilities. i was disappointed that some games were of a graphical quality that would be found on PSx games and even then not up to the highest calibre of some of the better PSx games. and the loading times were longer than would be found on many PSx games. it seemed as though they had simply made a PSx quality game and released it on a PS2. and it seemed as though they had either been lazy about it or didnt know the PS2 code well enough to take efficient advantage of it's hardware capabilities. if the same thing happens with PS3 it won't surprise me.
$600 for a PS3 is so expensive. i might buy one when the price drops by a lot. PS2 prices might drop with the release of the PS3 here, so that will be one good thing for me. i'm not a fan of sony, it's just i like some PS2 games.
